Domaine des Tourelles Vielles Vignes Carignan 2021

The fruit comes from 50 year old vines grown in mostly dry-farmed, high elevation vineyards, 1,050 meters (3,445 feet) above sea level. The soil is clay, with a clay and limestone subsoil. The grapes are hand-harvested in small boxes. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats, then aged for 2 years in the same vats. Minimum amount of sulfur is added at bottling. The aging in concrete contributes to a wine that is approachable in its youth. Vibrant nose of cranberries and raspberries, along with notes of licorice and Mediterranean spices. Structured, with high acidity and balanced tannins.
